NSW: Brogden unveils new frontbench line-up = 3
Mr Brogden said a decision not to include Mr O'Farrell on the frontbench was made inlight of last Thursday's leadership challenge which Mr Brogden won 15-14 in a party roomballot.
"I spoke to Barry this morning and I indicated to Barry I think after the events oflast week it's time to take a bit of time out," he said.
"Barry agreed to my request to become the chairman of the Waste Watch committee."
Opposition police spokesman Andrew Tink, who also supported Mrs Chikarovski, was amongthe MPs to retain their portfolios.
Health spokeswoman Jillian Skinner and education spokeswoman Patricia Forsythe alsoremain in their roles.
Former Competition and Consumer Protection, Small Business and Insurance Regulationspokeswoman Peta Seaton - another member of the gang of five - also will disappear fromthe frontbench.
Describing her as a "rare beast", Mr Brogden said his ally would play a vital behind-the-scenesrole as opposition cabinet secretary, chairing the reform and policy committee.
"She is the brains trust," he said.
Mr Brogden and Mr Souris also denied they had discussed the possibility of bringingback former National Party MP Rob Oakeshott to the coalition fold.
Mr Oakeshott recently resigned from the party to become an independent in his seatof Port Macquarie.
The MP yesterday said he would decline any such offer.
